Q : What does a router do?
A: Your internet signal comes into your home or business from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) via a modem. To receive that signal, you have to connect your computer to your modem with a wire. Today, many people have laptop computers configured to receive a wireless signal that they want to use on the sofa, in the bedroom or even out in the back yard, where wires cannot reach. Many businesses also want to provide their customers with wireless internet services. To accomplish this, they need a device that connects to the modem via a wire and projects a wireless signal to other areas of the home or business.

Q: What makes the Wireless Internet Pros router better than the routers I can buy at retail stores?
A: Two things: (1) superior transmit power, and (2) superior receive sensitivity. The standard router you might purchase at most retail stores has about 32 milliwatts of transmit power and will project a wireless signal about 100 feet or less. They receive wireless signals sent from your computer at about the same distance. These routers are adequate for most normal-sized homes. In contrast, the WP1000B Router has 1,000 milliwatts of power, the maximum allowed by law, and projects an omni-directional signal (in all directions) for a quarter-mile or more. This router is perfect for business locations or large estates requiring a wider wireless signal. The WP500B has 500 milliwatts of power and projects a clear wireless signal for approximately 600 feet (two football fields). The WP500B is perfect for use in large homes or estates as a primary access point, or as a repeater or bridge in business applications. In addition, both the Wireless Internet Pros WP1000B and the WP500B have additional built-in features which allow them to be used as bridge/repeater units, magnifying and projecting the primary access point wireless signal to greater distances.

Q: Why can’t I purchase the Wireless Internet Pros routers at retail outlets like WalMart or Circuit City?
A: Retail outlets generally sell to a mass consumer market. These commercial grade routers fill a more unique need and are typically used by professional installers and integrators who require a more consistent and dependable signal. Consider the speed contrast between dial-up internet service and high-speed DSL. Once you experience the difference, you won’t want to go back.

Q: Are these routers hard to install? Can I do it myself?
A: Yes, you can. Each unit comes with a CD containing both full and quick-start instructions. In addition, we offer a 24/7 help line with American technicians assisting you in user-friendly terminology. Installing and programming a Wireless Internet Pros router as an access point is no more difficult than hooking up a new DVD player. Commercial applications where multiple routers and high-gain antennas are employed as repeaters to achieve a strong wireless signal throughout a multi-room building is a little more difficult. This scenario often involves professional expertise to determine the best placement of repeater units and antennas. On the other hand, much of it is well within the skill level of a novice and calls for nothing more than patience, experimentation and common sense. Our technicians will also assist do-it-yourselfers in these applications

Q: If I install a device as powerful as this, won’t lots of people in my neighborhood be able to pick up my signal and use it to get online? Will that challenge my available internet bandwidth?
A: That is a possibility if you install your device as an “unsecured” network. Most businesses offering wireless internet, such as motels and RV parks, subscribe to enough bandwidth from their ISP to allow internet access by all their customers. Non-customers pirating the signal are usually too few to be a problem. If you have a large home or estate requiring a broader wireless signal, the number of people who may pirate your signal at any given time are usually not a problem either. Both the WP1000B and the WP500B, however, can be easily installed as a “secure” network, requiring a security key to access your signal.

Q: What if I buy your product(s) and can’t get them to work to my satisfaction? Can I get my money back?
A: Our guarantee is stated in our web site. If our products do not perform for you as promised, return them within 30 days and you will receive a full refund. We want you to be happy so you will refer us to your friends and associates. A few dollars' loss on one sale does not compare with potential lost sales resulting from an unhappy customer.
